Terms and Conditions

Last updated: May 2026 · Version 1.4

These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of the Afín platform, available at afinapp.es and app.afinapp.es, operated by Afín, a service operated in Spain (hereinafter, "Afín"). By accessing and using the service, you accept these terms in full.

1. Description of the service

Afín is a real-time networking platform for in-person events. It allows attendees to create temporary profiles and find matches with other attendees based on interests and professional role. The service runs in a web browser with no download or account registration required.

2. Types of user

Organisers: individuals or companies that contract the Afín service to activate it at their events. By contracting, they accept these terms and take responsibility for adequately communicating the use of the platform to their attendees.

Attendees: individuals who access the service during an event via the QR code provided by the organiser. No prior registration is required. Use of the service implies acceptance of these terms.

3. Conditions of use

The user agrees to:

  • Provide accurate information in their attendee profile.
  • Not use the service for illegal, fraudulent or harmful purposes.
  • Not attempt to manipulate the matching system or impersonate other people.
  • Use the connection request feature (wave) in an appropriate and respectful manner.

Afín reserves the right to suspend access to users who violate these conditions.

4. Data and privacy

Attendee profiles do not require an email address or password. The data entered by each attendee (name, role, company and interests, plus an optional contact detail) is used exclusively for matching during the event and for generating the post-event report.

What the organiser sees: the organiser has access to a post-event report that includes participation metrics (number of attendees, connections made, profile distribution, etc.) and the list of pairs of attendees who mutually accepted a connection (name and role of each party). The optional contact detail entered by each attendee is not visible to the organiser at any time: it is only revealed to the two attendees who have mutually accepted the connection request. Connection requests sent but not responded to are also not visible to the organiser or other attendees, although they are temporarily stored on the server.

Chat between attendees: if the organiser enables the chat feature, messages sent between attendees with an accepted connection are stored on the server for the same 30-day period. The organiser has no access to message content. The service operator (Afín) has technical access for the correct operation of the service and to handle reports of misuse.

Retention period: attendee data (profiles, connections, interactions and chat messages) is retained for 30 calendar days from the event close date, during which the organiser can access and download the report. After that period, all data is permanently and automatically deleted. If the organiser has not downloaded the report before that date, the information cannot be recovered.

Organiser billing data: data required for invoicing (name or company name, tax ID, address) is retained for the legally required period to fulfil fiscal and accounting obligations, with a minimum of 4 years.

For more information, see our Privacy Policy.

5. Intellectual property

All elements of the Afín platform (code, design, brand, texts) are the property of their respective owners and are protected by applicable intellectual property law. Reproduction, distribution or modification without express authorisation is prohibited.

6. Limitation of liability

Afín acts as a technology intermediation platform and is not responsible for the content of profiles created by attendees, for conversations or encounters that occur between them, or for the outcomes arising from use of the service.

The service is provided "as is" and Afín does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, although it commits to maintaining reasonable service levels.

7. Reporting inappropriate behaviour

Users may report inappropriate behaviour (harassment, impersonation, fraudulent use or similar) via info@afinapp.es, indicating the event and a description of the incident. Afín will handle the report within a maximum of 48 hours and may suspend access to the service for the user involved if the breach of these conditions is confirmed.

8. Changes to these terms

Afín reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be published on this page with the updated date. Continued use of the service after changes are published implies acceptance of the new terms.

9. Applicable law

These terms are governed by Spanish law. For any dispute, the parties submit to the courts of the place of domicile of the service operator, unless applicable regulations establish a different jurisdiction.
